ARE TV SHOWS BETTER THAN MOVIES?!

Can you guess what's more watched- TV shows or movies?
Surprisingly TV shows, have somewhat "kept the audience" from Movies. Well, then what am I talking about here?
TV SHOWS ARE BETTER THAN MOVIES?!

Don't get me wrong, but if you think practically, it's true.
Movie buffs will have their arguments here, but considering the global pandemic, TV shows live up to the hype.

All those boring sleepless nights turn themselves in like the binge-watching night, where you pick a TV show and cover all the episodes and seasons, and you won't regret it unless it's a bad one. (You know what I mean) There are various types of TV shows. One would have a different preference altogether than the other.

1) SITCOM

One of my favorites, if you would ask, is the Sitcom. Short for Situational comedy. You must have heard about some famous Sitcoms like Friends, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Modern Family, and many more.

Why do I like them?

  • They are hilarious, with an intriguing storyline and character development in every episode.

  • As you keep watching it, you get connected with the characters.

  • You know the character's behavior, which makes it enjoyable in different situations.

  • The best thing, of course, is the running period. Sitcoms run for years together and make it a point to instill life lessons and values for the viewers to actually connect the Sitcom to their life.

I watch a few episodes, get so involved that I leave all the work aside, and start binging. I complete all the seasons in less than a month. I get so captivated with the plot or the characters that there's a hangover kinda thing for two months. These two months, you would find me talking about the show and only about it until I start watching something else.

FYI, I'm obsessed with the Sitcom- Brooklyn nine-nine, and if you want to watch a top-notch cop comedy, I'm telling you this one's the best. There's a whole another article coming up on it, so stay tuned.

2) SOAP OPERA

Daily soap opera is similar to a sitcom, but it doesn't usually have comedy. It's more of a daily serial, based on the lives of people.

Some people religiously watch the daily soap and follow it, but I'm not into it as much. If you'd ask why, well, in India, daily soaps set the bar way too low. Every other serial is based on the conflicts between the in-laws, and I'm just sick of it. No offense, but these serials do earn a handsome remuneration from the large number of people who actually watch.

Some soaps are- All My Children, The Days Of Our Lives, General Hospital, and many more.

Although some Indian epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata was a trend lately when they were re-telecasted on television, and most millennials did appreciate it.

3) CARTOONS

Cartoons never fail to bring a nostalgic smile to our faces. It is deeply connected to our childhood memories and, watching it again always feels nice. However silly they might seem today, the way we idolized cartoons in our childhood will ever be marked in our hearts.

The other day, I was browsing and came across an old cartoon video on YouTube, and I thought, how much of an impact these cartoons had on our way of thinking when we were young.

Cartoons like Shinchan, Doraemon, Tom & Jerry, Chhota Bheem, Mr. Bean, The Simpsons, Motu Patlu, Spong Bob, Pink Panther, and so many more! They are always a good watch during the pandemic.

Anime is an enjoyed TV Show as well, and in fact, it is a matter of a separate discussion altogether.

4) TV SERIES

Online video streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and Disney+Hotstar are renowned for their humungous spread of TV Series, few of which are extremely popular. These series are the most binge-worthy content and in so many different genres to suit oneself. There are fan-bases for various TV Shows too. Some famous ones are listed below:

  • Game Of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Money Heist, Stranger Things, Dark, 13 Reasons Why, Vampire Diaries, How To Get Away With Murder, Riverdale, Sacred Games, Typewriter, and many more on Netflix.

There are many more to cover, but the bottom line is that you get it. These TV shows have a large fandom and, most actors started off the career with a bang through these shows. The producers, crew, and the OTT platforms earn huge profits, as people watch these shows some time or the other and repeat. It is not the case in Movies. When a movie releases, its box office collection depends on various other factors like- the release of competitive movies, weather, promotions, actors, producers, directors, global situation, the time of the year, the day of the week, movie reviews, and details we are unaware of. But, I can't argue at the point that, the whole movie experience is unparalleled.
